Our support unit
The support unit at Wagga Wagga High School provides a welcoming, inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with disability across five specialist classes. Our dedicated team of teachers and School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) work collaboratively to ensure every student is known, valued and supported to achieve their individual goals.

We deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching programs that cater to each student's strengths, interests and learning needs. Students access either Life Skills or mainstream curriculum outcomes, with personalised learning programs designed to maximise engagement, independence and success.
Our classrooms foster positive relationships, confidence and a sense of belonging while supporting students to develop academic, social, communication and functional life skills. Learning extends beyond the classroom through community access, work education, TAFE, sport, creative arts and transition programs that prepare students for life beyond school.
At Wagga Wagga High School, we believe every student has the capacity to learn, grow and succeed. Through strong partnerships with families, carers and allied professionals, our Support Unit is committed to empowering students to become confident, capable and active members of their school and wider community.
How students access our support unit
Placement in our support unit follows an access request process. This helps us understand each student’s needs and plan the right support. The process usually includes:
- Meeting with our learning support team to talk about your child’s needs
- Providing documents or assessments
- Review and recommendation by a specialist panel
- Creating an individual education plan (IEP) for your child
