Why choose us?

At Wagga Wagga High School, students do not have to fit a single definition of success. We believe every young person should have the opportunity to discover their strengths, explore their interests and pursue a pathway that reflects their aspirations.

As Wagga Wagga’s longest-standing government high school, proudly known as the High School on the Hill, we combine a strong tradition of public education with the breadth, expertise and opportunity of a large comprehensive school. Our students are challenged to aim high, supported to belong and encouraged to make the most of the many possibilities available to them.

For many students, the journey to the High School on the Hill begins in one of our Partner Primary Schools. Together, we form a connected Community of Schools, working closely with students, families and primary school staff to create a smooth and supported pathway from primary school to high school.

Through shared learning experiences, school visits, transition activities and strong professional relationships, students build confidence, familiarity and a sense of belonging well before their first day of Year 7. These connections help families see their child’s education as a continuous journey through local public education—from their Partner Primary School to Wagga Wagga High School and beyond.

Discover our Community of Schools

For some students, success means achieving outstanding academic results and progressing to university or scholarship opportunities. For others, it may involve developing a talent in sport or the creative arts, gaining industry experience, beginning an apprenticeship, building leadership skills or discovering an interest they had never previously considered. Many students will pursue a combination of these opportunities throughout their time at school.

Our size and diversity are among our greatest strengths. Students learn alongside peers from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, while benefiting from extensive subject choice, specialist teachers, broad extracurricular opportunities and pathways into university, TAFE, training and employment.

At Wagga Wagga High School, families do not have to choose between academic challenge, practical learning, creativity, wellbeing and connection. Our comprehensive approach allows students to grow as learners and as people, while keeping a wide range of possibilities open for their future.
